Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure
In Brief
SinoWander is a free, reader-supported travel guide. We earn revenue in two ways: display advertising and affiliate links. If you buy something through an affiliate link on our site, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We only link to products and services we genuinely believe will help travelers.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertisers use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can control personalized advertising in your Google Ads Settings. See our Privacy Policy for full details on cookies and analytics.
Affiliate Links
Some links on SinoWander are affiliate links. This means if you click the link and make a booking or purchase, the merchant pays us a small referral commission. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid anyway — the commission comes out of the merchant's margin, not your wallet.
Our affiliate partners may include travel-booking platforms such as:
- Trip.com — hotels, flights, trains and tours in China
- Klook — activities, tickets and eSIMs
- GetYourGuide — guided tours and experiences
- Amazon Associates — travel gear and accessories
Not every link is an affiliate link, and we are not paid to write positive reviews. Where a link is affiliate and may earn us a commission, we consider it covered by this disclosure.
How Affiliate Commissions Work
- You click an affiliate link on SinoWander and complete a purchase on the partner's site.
- The partner pays us a small percentage of the sale (typically 1–8%, varying by partner).
- Your price is identical to what you'd pay visiting the site directly.
- These commissions help cover hosting, content and research costs, keeping our guides free.
Editorial Independence
Our recommendations are based on research, first-hand travel knowledge and what genuinely serves visitors to China — not on which merchant pays the highest commission. We will never recommend a product or service solely for the payout, and a higher commission rate never changes a recommendation we wouldn't make otherwise. If we ever accept sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled as such.
Third-Party Cookies
When you click an affiliate link, the partner may set a tracking cookie so they know we referred you. These cookies are governed by each partner's own privacy policy, not ours. We do not receive your personal or payment details — only an anonymous record that a referral resulted in a sale.
Your Choices
Using affiliate links is entirely optional. You are welcome to visit any recommended service directly by typing its address into your browser. You can also block tracking cookies through your browser settings or a privacy extension.
